Job Description:
Contract Manager
Location: Chesapeake, VA (Onsite to start; transitions to hybrid)
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Contract Manager to support the full lifecycle of commercial and government contracts across a growing portfolio of infrastructure and technology initiatives. This role plays a critical part in ensuring contract clarity, compliance, and alignment with business objectives.
This position will begin fully onsite in Chesapeake, VA to support onboarding and stakeholder alignment. After an initial ramp-up period, the role will transition to a hybrid work model.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Lifecycle Management
- Manage contracts from initiation through closeout, including drafting support, review, execution, amendments, and renewals
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation across all agreements
- Ensure contract terms align with project requirements, business goals, and regulatory obligations
Contract Review & Risk Management
- Analyze contract terms to ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations
- Identify potential risks and work with internal teams to develop mitigation strategies
- Track key contract milestones, deliverables, and expiration dates
Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact for contract-related matters across internal teams, clients, and vendors
- Support negotiations by coordinating feedback, clarifying terms, and documenting updates
- Collaborate with operations, finance, procurement, and project teams to ensure alignment
Financial & Commercial Oversight
- Monitor contract financials, including pricing structures and payment terms
- Review invoices and validate alignment with contract scope and deliverables
- Support change orders, claims, and dispute resolution as needed
Compliance & Governance
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local regulations relevant to project delivery
- Assist with audits, reporting, and contract performance reviews
- Contribute to process improvements, templates, and contract management best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Contract Management, Finance, Public Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in contract management, contract administration, or commercial management
- Strong understanding of contract terms, compliance, and commercial risk principles
- Excellent attention to detail and document management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and contract management tools
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with infrastructure, transportation, or technology-related contracts
- Exposure to public-sector or government-funded contracts (DOT/municipal projects)
- Background collaborating with procurement, legal, or compliance teams
- Legal training or coursework (JD or equivalent) is a plus
