Position Summary

The Contract Substitute is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, classroom management, administrative support, and instructional assistance across the district. Serving grades 4K-12 on a daily basis, this individual flexibly fills daily subbing roles, long-term substitute assignments, or administrative functions as needed. On days when substitute coverage is not required, the Contract Substitute works on designated projects and tasks as assigned by the building administrator. The Contract Substitute also participates in required professional development days to support district educational goals.

Qualifications

Be at least 18 years of age

Valid DPI Teaching License, Substitute License,

Associate's or Bachelor's degree

Ability to adapt quickly to varying daily roles, age groups (4K-12), and subject areas

Be capable of physically assisting students as required by individual position needs

Essential Functions

Teaching & Classroom Subbing: Execute lesson plans and instructional activities left by classroom teachers to maintain academic continuity across 4K-12 classrooms.

Long-Term Assignments: Fulfill long-term substitute teaching or educational assistant assignments, including lesson planning, student assessment, and parent communication as required.

Educational Assistant Support: Work with individual students or small groups following teacher direction, assisting in behavior management and instructional activities.

Administrative Support: Serve as an administrative assistant or office support staff when assigned, assisting with office duties, communication, and daily building administration needs.

Building & Special Projects: Complete administrative, educational, or facility projects as assigned by the building administrator on days when substitute coverage is not required.

Professional Development: Attend and actively participate in scheduled district and building professional development days.

Student Supervision: Assist with student supervision during instructional time, passing periods, lunch, recess, and school arrivals/departures.

Confidentiality: Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information as expected of staff.

Schedule: Be available and remain on-site for the full duration of the contracted work day, adhering to the assigned building's operating hours and schedule or that of the specific role that is being fulfilled.

Other Duties as Assigned

Perform additional duties and/or assignments that the Superintendent or building principals deem necessary
