This opportunity is ideal for an experienced contract administrator, paralegal, or contracts professional looking to negotiate commercial agreements, identify and manage contractual risk, and make a meaningful impact.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you'll play a key role in reviewing and negotiating contracts while partnering with legal, operations, and project management teams to help protect the organization's legal and business interests.
Responsibilities of the Contract Specialist:
Draft, review, revise, negotiate, and administer commercial agreements including construction contracts, subcontracts, vendor agreements, temporary labor agreements, and service agreements
Review contract markups and negotiate revisions with owners, subcontractors, vendors, and business partners
Review prime contracts and ensure proper flow-down of contractual obligations to subcontractors
Review subcontractor exclusions, qualifications, and deviations from standard contract language
Manage contract intake, routing, approvals, execution, and document control
Track contract compliance, notices, deadlines, and contractual obligations throughout the contract lifecycle
Develop and maintain efficient contract management processes to improve organization, tracking, and compliance
Maintain organized contract files while supporting company-wide contract administration and risk management initiatives
Manage AIA Contracts, ConsensusDocs, and subcontract agreement systems
Partner with project managers to accurately interpret contract requirements and incorporate project terms into final agreements
Assist with developing and implementing contract administration procedures and risk management best practices
Identify legal and commercial risks while helping protect the organization's interests
Requirements:
Associate degree, Bachelor's degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent industry experience preferred
Minimum of 2 years of experience in contract administration, commercial contracting, paralegal, legal support, or contract management
Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements
Experience supporting commercial contracts within construction, manufacturing, engineering, architecture, legal, procurement, or other project-based environments preferred
Working knowledge of contract administration and risk management
Familiarity with AIA Contracts, ConsensusDocs, vendor agreements, or other commercial contract management systems preferred
Ability to independently manage multiple contracts while balancing competing priorities and deadlines
Strong organizational, communication, negotiation, and documentation management skills
Ability to identify legal and commercial risks within contract language
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
Attorney or Juris Doctor (JD) background
Experience working in construction law or commercial law
Experience with AIA Contracts and/or ConsensusDocs
