About the Position
Goodwill Talent Solutions is seeking an Assistant Attorney General II to support the Office of the Attorney General's Child Support Division in Beaumont.
This is a full-time hybrid contract attorney position focused primarily on legal review, research, legal writing, and providing guidance to OAG staff. The role is well suited for an attorney who enjoys analyzing pleadings, researching legal issues, and providing practical legal guidance in a high-volume environment.
Newly licensed attorneys are encouraged to apply! Training and guidance will be provided to help the selected candidate become familiar with the Child Support Division's processes, procedures, and legal work.
The position will begin with an initial onsite training period. Once the required training has been successfully completed, a hybrid work schedule will be implemented. This allows the selected attorney to receive hands-on training and become familiar with the team, systems, and expectations before transitioning to the hybrid schedule.
This position does not require regular courtroom appearances. The primary focus will be reviewing pleadings and legal documents, preparing written legal guidance, conducting research, and advising staff on Child Support matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Review pleadings, motions, legal documents, and case-related materials for accuracy, completeness, and legal sufficiency.
- Provide legal advice, consultation, and technical assistance to Child Support Division staff and attorneys.
- Conduct legal research and analyze Texas Family Law and Child Support issues.
- Prepare legal memoranda, opinions, recommendations, and other written work products.
- Assist OAG attorneys with case preparation by reviewing documentation, researching legal issues, and providing legal analysis.
- Review and provide guidance regarding cases involving the establishment, enforcement, modification, and termination of child and medical support orders.
- Support attorneys and staff in interpreting applicable statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with investigations and other case-related legal research as needed.
- Provide guidance regarding pleadings and recommended legal action.
- Assist with training and providing technical guidance to Child Support Program staff.
- Collaborate with OAG attorneys and staff in a professional, high-volume legal environment.
What We're Looking For
- Texas-licensed attorney in good standing.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Newly licensed attorneys are encouraged to apply. Prior professional experience is welcome but not required.
- Experience or coursework in Family Law, Child Support, civil litigation, or legal research and writing is a plus but not required.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to review and interpret pleadings and other legal documents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new processes and apply legal guidance in a high-volume environment.
- Strong organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Education
Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
Licensing
Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and maintain an active license in good standing.

- Ability to stand, bend, and reach as needed.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
- Initial training will be conducted onsite. A hybrid work schedule will be implemented following completion of the initial training period.
