PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The Contract Account Manager is responsible for managing facility rate setting and contract development for hospitals and health systems within the provider network. This role prepares, analyzes, and reviews complex financial models to evaluate the cost impact of proposed contract terms, reimbursement methodologies, and rate structures. Negotiates, drafts, and executes contracts, ensuring agreements are financially sound, compliant, and operationally feasible. Additionally, the position supports ongoing relationship management with providers, monitors contract performance, and contributes to strategic contracting initiatives.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  •  Leads contract discussions with third party payers, including rate and language negotiation in accordance with established guidelines.
  •  Prepares, analyzes, and reviews complex financial models to evaluate the cost impact of proposed contract terms, reimbursement methodologies, and rate structures.
  •  Drafts and executes contracts, ensuring agreements are financially sound, compliant, and operationally feasible.
  •  Serves as the expert on terms of the payer contract for reporting to impacted internal and external parties.
  •  Implements executed contract, communicates contract changes as necessary, reviews contract performance, and makes appropriate recommendations.
  •  Establishes and maintains positive working relationship with third party payer network.
  •  Supports ongoing relationship management with providers, monitors contract performance, and contributes to strategic contracting initiatives.
  • Works with upper management team to facilitate problem solving of escalated contractual and/or contract reimbursement issues through collaboration with managed care organizations and/or third party insurance payers and internal stakeholders.
  • Assists in the research of state Medicaid policies/procedures to ensure thorough understanding of Medicaid structure as necessary.
  • Works directly with upper management in creating new work flow tools and processes to ensure efficiency.
  • Updates in-house documents, including contract database systems, and tracking information as necessary.
  •  Participates in any special projects or assignments as needed

Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree required.
  •  5+ years of contract related experience required.
  •  Basic to working knowledge of health care delivery systems.
  •  Demonstrated ability to drive results and take initiative.
  •  Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment and effectively manage priorities.
  •  Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
