Description

About the Role
This role owns off-page authority for a fast-growing developer tools company in the AI and web data extraction space, one that reached eight figures in ARR in its first year and has built a large, active open-source community. The Content Marketing Manager will be the first dedicated owner of everything that happens outside the company website: affiliate relationships, newsletter and podcast sponsorships, link-building, and earned placements that help developers and AI builders discover the product through search.

The ideal candidate has three to seven years of content marketing experience with clear, provable off-page SEO results tied directly to their own hands-on work. They know how to track authority, rankings, and referral traffic using Google Search Console and web analytics, and they can connect that work to real business outcomes. Candidates coming purely from paid or demand-gen backgrounds without organic ownership, or those who have leaned on spammy or black-hat link building tactics, are not the right fit here.

Key Responsibilities
1. Own the off-page SEO strategy end to end, setting targets for domain authority, keyword rankings, and referral traffic and reporting on progress regularly
2. Build and manage affiliate marketing relationships, including partner identification, outreach, agreement terms, and ongoing performance tracking
3. Source, negotiate, and execute newsletter and podcast sponsorships that put the product in front of developer and AI builder audiences
4. Secure earned media placements and backlinks through genuine digital PR outreach including pitching journalists, writers, and community publishers
5. Track all off-page efforts in Google Search Console and analytics platforms, translating data into clear reporting on business impact
6. Collaborate with internal content and product marketing teammates to align off-page campaigns with on-site messaging and launch timing
7. Identify and test new external channels and partnership formats that can expand reach with technical and developer audiences

Required Skills & Experience
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in content marketing with a meaningful focus on off-page and organic channels
  • Demonstrated track record of off-page SEO and link-building growth tied to work you personally owned and executed
  • Hands-on experience running affiliate programs and managing newsletter or podcast sponsorships
  • Ability to measure and communicate the business impact of off-page work using Google Search Console and web analytics tools
  • Located in the San Francisco or Bay Area and able to work in-office on a hybrid schedule
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with hands-on digital PR outreach including pitching, securing placements, and building earned link pipelines personally
  • Familiarity with developer tools, open-source communities, or AI and data infrastructure products
  • Comfort writing or editing content to support outreach and sponsorship campaigns
