About the Role:

The Consumer Loan Processor/Underwriter works with the Consumer Loan Advisor providing basic customer service to our clients. They assist in gathering documents from clients and vendors to prepare loans for file underwriting. This individual will help track timely delivery of disclosures, documentation and analyze income and collateral documentation. The individual must be detail oriented, self-motivated and have excellent customer service, communication, organizational and time management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet walk-in clients, answer phones and schedule appointments
• Work with clients and Advisors to gather required documents
• Work with vendors to complete all necessary order outs as required
• Communicate with title companies, realtors, vendors and clients on loan progress
• As documents arrive from the client/vendor, review for accuracy and content, updating the information as required
• Review appraisals and automated valuation models (AVMs) for accuracy and completeness
• Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, approving and underwriting large, unusual or complex individual consumer requests and products within company, investor and industry guidelines
• Depending on complexity of underwriting, functions may include reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and applicable ratios (e.g., debt ratios, loan-to-value)
• Evaluating consumer loan applications
• Examining transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Preparing formal reports for review
• Ensuring that documents are consistent and uphold to company and industry guidelines
• Implementing fraud detection techniques, performing compliance reviews
• Assisting with re-negotiations of loans based on lending guidelines
• Contacting partners to gather information to make appropriate decisions and explain rationale behind credit decisions
• Evaluate all applicants' credit risk and deliver appropriate credit decisions within approval limits
• Coordinates and orders closing documents for both the title companies and clients
• Manage follow up items after closing

• Knowledge of all loan type products and consumer and mortgage lending regulations and loan policies.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Processor/Underwriter I: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in business, finance or related degree; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. General understanding of banking and/or financial services industry.
• Processor/Underwriter II: Developed the knowledge, skills and experience to function independently and proficiently in all aspects of loan processing and underwriting in either the Consumer or Commercial channel. This includes, but is not limited to:
• 3 years experience in consumer level income analysis and underwriting
• Proficient understanding of Consumer lending compliance and regulations
• Proficient in understanding and analysis of business financials and business structure
• Expertise in Freddie Mac lending guidelines and use of the Seller Servicer Guide
• Proficient knowledge of Baker Boyer Loan Policy
