Consumer Loan Officer/MSR

We are currently hiring for a dynamic Consumer Loan Officer/MSR in Akron, Ohio. Hours:

• Monday – Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
• Friday: 8:30am - 5:00pm

Pay:

• $25.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

• Confer with members to determine their income, expenses, and ability to meet credit obligations
• Calculate debt amounts and plan repayment strategies
• Contact creditors to explain members' financial situations and negotiate payment adjustments
• Prioritize debt repayment to reduce costs for members
• Open accounts and disburse funds to creditors as an agent for members
• Maintain detailed records of account activities
• Counsel members on personal and family financial issues
• Assist members with budgeting and financial planning
• Review loan applications, analyze financial status, and determine feasibility
• Interview applicants and gather necessary documentation
• Approve loans or submit applications for committee review
• Communicate with members and creditors to resolve questions
• Identify lending opportunities and cross-sell other credit union products
• Process various financial transactions (deposits, withdrawals, check issuance, account management)
• Respond to member inquiries and resolve account issues
• Perform additional member service functions and support team tasks

Minimum Requirements:

• Proven understanding of credit union products and services
• 2-3 years of related experience as a Loan Officer or Collection Officer
• College certificate or equivalent education and experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain NMLS licensing and Ohio Limited Lines Insurance License
• Computer literacy including word processing, spreadsheets, and budgeting software
• Knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and relevant regulations
• Ability to interpret loan agreements and financial documents
• Positive attitude and professional demeanor
• Ability to pass background, credit, and drug screens

Nice to Have Skills:

• NMLS licensing preferred
• Experience with automated loan processing systems
• Knowledge of debt collection laws and practices

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Related work experience in credit unions or financial services
• Prior loan and member service experience

Other Requirements:

• Must pass a credit check, background check, and drug screening
• Minimal facial piercings, tasteful tattoos (no sleeves or face/neck tattoos), and professional appearance
• Willingness to work on-site in Akron, with training conducted at the main office
