Job Title: Construction Technician


Job Description


The Construction Technician supports a variety of site development and landscape construction projects, focusing on dirt work, pipe installation, erosion control, and general maintenance tasks. This role works closely with equipment operators to install pipe, cut to grade, and complete a range of punch list activities such as reseeding, installing park amenities, replacing concrete, and performing touch-up painting. The position offers hands-on experience across infrastructure, athletic fields, parks, and river projects, with a clear path for professional growth.


Responsibilities


+ Perform dirt work and earthwork activities, including grading, subgrade preparation, and general site preparation.

+ Assist equipment operators with pipe installation, including cutting pipe to grade and supporting utility and drainage work.

+ Execute erosion control tasks, such as installing erosion control measures, handling earthwork around waterways, and maintaining site stability.

+ Support landscape work, including reseeding, planting, and general grounds restoration on parks, athletic fields, and similar outdoor spaces.

+ Complete miscellaneous punch list duties, including reseeding, installing park benches, replacing concrete sections, and performing touch-up painting.

+ Work on river projects by assisting operators in setting boulders and rocks, establishing grades, and supporting in-house river construction and stabilization work.

+ Handle general labor tasks on construction sites, including material handling, site cleanup, and assisting various trades as needed.

+ Collaborate with crew leaders, operators, and subcontractors to ensure subgrade prep and scope gap fill work are completed accurately and on schedule.

+ Regularly lift and move materials up to 50 pounds, including boulders and other heavy construction components, while following safe work practices.

+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and adhere to all site safety procedures and guidelines.


Essential Skills


+ At least 1 year of experience in erosion control, utilities, earthwork, or landscaping.

+ Hands-on experience with construction or landscape labor, including dirt work and general earthwork.

+ Ability to work effectively on outdoor construction sites, including parks, athletic fields, and river projects.

+ Capability to assist with pipe installation and cutting to grade in support of utility and drainage systems.

+ Strong physical stamina with the ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including boulders and other heavy materials.

+ Basic understanding of erosion control practices and landscape restoration techniques.

+ Reliability and willingness to perform general labor tasks and follow direction from supervisors and equipment operators.

+ Attention to detail when completing punch list items such as reseeding, installing park amenities, replacing concrete, and touch-up painting.


Additional Skills & Qualifications


+ Experience working on infrastructure, athletic fields, or river-related construction projects.

+ Experience in landscape construction or maintenance, including seeding, planting, and site restoration.

+ Interest in learning equipment operation and developing into a crew leader or assistant superintendent role.

+ Willingness to learn river work techniques, including setting boulders, rock placement, and grade establishment.

+ Desire to build a long-term career path in erosion control and site development, progressing into leadership positions.

+ Ability to work collaboratively with subcontractors and internal crews on scope gap fill work and subgrade preparation.

Work Environment

You work as part of a general contractor team that focuses on infrastructure, athletic fields, river projects, and subgrade preparation while coordinating with subcontractors who perform specialized trades. Daily tasks involve close collaboration with equipment operators, handling materials, setting boulders and rocks, and performing earthwork and erosion control in varying weather conditions. The role is physically demanding, requiring regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and working on uneven terrain. Attire is typical construction site wear suitable for outdoor labor and safety compliance, such as durable clothing and appropriate protective gear.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.


Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
