JOB DESCRIPTION
Manages the entire project lifecycle from project definition through implementation. Accountable for meeting agreed upon scope, cost, schedule and quality measures. Develops project plan and drives project milestones. Establishes effective communication plan with project team and key stakeholders. Provides day-to-day direction to project resources and ensures the project teams are provided the resources and support that enable the teams to reach their defined objectives. Ensures effective change management occurs throughout the course of the project. Responsible for preparation of documentation and status reports. Role requires excellent oral and written communications, interpersonal, negotiation, project planning, judgment, leadership, decision-making, analysis and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of construction project best practices.
Explain what the scope of the work/project is? Project Overview, deliverables (what is this person
responsible for):
Provide direct field supervision and oversight of day-to-day electrical activities for the Plant X BESS project.
Responsibilities include daily contractor coordination, verification of electrical completion, field inspections,
quality surveillance, safety oversight, and support of site activities. The Construction Supervisor will serve as
the primary field presence to ensure construction activities are completed in accordance with project
requirements and Xcel Energy standards. Responsible for monitoring contractor performance, verifying work
quality, ensuring compliance with project specifications, and facilitating timely resolution of field issues
identified inspections. Deliverables include daily field oversight, contractor coordination, verification of
corrective actions, and support for activities to ensure a successful transition to Operations.
What are the top 3-5 skills and qualifications (technology/application/software, etc.) required?:
Electrical Experience: 7-10 Years of Experience: Extensive experience with low and medium voltage
electrical work. Electrical Inspector: Specific experience within the electrical discipline. Technical Proficiency:
Civil Design and Construction Support, Renewable Energy Experience: Wind, Solar, BESS. System: Familiarity
with the NEXTracker system, which is a positioning system software for solar panels, would be highly
beneficial. Safety Expertise: Safety Champion: Must prioritize and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring
all activities adhere to safety regulations and best practices. Educational Background: Electrical Engineering
Degree: A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is highly preferred, though not required. General
Electrical Experience: 7+ Years of Experience: A strong background in electrical work, with at least 7 years of
experience, is essential. These skills and qualifications are crucial for ensuring the successful execution and
oversight of the electrical components.
2. What non-technical skills are necessary (i.e., such as communication, problem solving, team player)?: Strong
communication, positive attitude. Highly collaborative.
Ideal candidate background and how many years required?: See above. 7-10 years of experience/ electrical
inspector.
4. Are there any specific companies you like to see on a candidate's resume?: Great to see previous EPC
experience from Mortenson, Blattner construction. Or owners' rep side experience; National Grid, Nexterra,
Duke Energy, etc.
5. Are there any certifications that the candidate must possess?: OSHA 30, etc. would be nice to see. Not
required. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. If they have the degree, leader would count towards
years of experience.
