    About the Role:

    Join a major capital improvement project as a Construction Safety Officer, serving as the onsite safety leader for construction activities at a large manufacturing facility. In this highly visible role, you will partner with project teams, contractors, and site leadership to drive a proactive safety culture, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure safe project execution from planning through completion. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on complex construction projects while influencing safety performance across multiple stakeholders.

    Here's a glimpse into your day to day:

    • Serving as the primary safety representative for assigned construction project and contractor activities.
    • Promoting compliance with client safety policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable industry standards.
    • Conducting routine field safety audits, inspections, and observations of construction and maintenance activities.
    • Identifying hazardous conditions and at-risk behaviors and facilitating corrective actions.
    • Supporting development, implementation, and communication of project-specific safety programs, procedures, and expectations.
    • Coaching contractors, supervisors, and project stakeholders on safety best practices and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Participating in project planning activities to proactively identify and reduce construction-related risks.
    • Reviewing Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), Safe Work Permits, and contractor safety plans.
    • Supporting contractor onboarding, safety orientation, and site access requirements.
    • Monitoring compliance with confined space, hot work, fall protection, electrical safety, energized work, and other high-risk work processes.
    • Providing oversight and governance for Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs as applicable.
    • Supporting permit-to-work processes and verification activities.
    • Participating in pre-task planning meetings, toolbox talks, and daily coordination meetings.
    • Leading or supporting incident investigations, near-miss reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
    • Tracking safety observations, incidents, corrective actions, and leading indicators. Facilitating safety training and awareness programs for project teams and contractors.
    • Supporting emergency response planning and incident preparedness activities.
    • Reviewing contractor safety performance and providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
    • Monitoring compliance with site environmental, health, and safety requirements throughout project execution.
    • Coordinating with operations and maintenance personnel to ensure construction activities are safely integrated into ongoing facility operations.
    • Preparing safety reports, observations, metrics, and project safety performance updates for leadership

    You'll be a perfect fit if you have:

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 5+ years of construction safety experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, utility, energy, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, chemical, or heavy industrial projects.
    • Experience serving as an onsite safety professional overseeing contractors and multiple trades on active construction projects.
    • Demonstrated experience supporting capital projects within operating manufacturing or industrial facilities.
    • Strong understanding of construction safety management principles and contractor safety programs.
    • Experience participating in incident investigations, hazard assessments, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
    • Experience working in environments with concurrent operations where construction activities must be coordinated around active production, maintenance, or utility systems..
