    Description

    We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives across commercial construction projects throughout the Nashville area.

    This field-based position will oversee jobsite safety, OSHA compliance, hazard identification, employee training, incident investigations, and corrective actions. The ideal candidate has a strong commercial construction safety background and is comfortable working directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, and field personnel.

    The Safety Manager will play a key role in building a proactive safety culture while helping project teams maintain safe, compliant, and efficient jobsites.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits across commercial construction jobsites.
    • Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and verify issues are resolved promptly.
    • Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and subcontractors to promote safe work practices.
    • Investigate incidents, perform root-cause analyses, and develop corrective action plans.
    • Lead new-hire orientations, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing training.
    • Maintain accurate inspection reports, training records, incident documentation, and compliance files.
    • Monitor high-risk activities including fall protection, scaffolding, excavation, confined spaces, crane operations, heavy equipment, and electrical work.
    • Provide hands-on safety coaching and serve as a visible safety leader on active jobsites.
    • Assist with pre-task hazard assessments, safety planning, and site-specific safety programs.
    • Stay current with OSHA regulations, industry standards, and construction safety best practices.
    • Support company-wide safety initiatives and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

    Requirements

    Candidates must meet one of the following qualification paths:

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Associate's degree in Construction, Engineering, Safety, or a related field plus 2+ years of commercial construction safety experience.
    • CHST, ASP, CSP, or equivalent safety certification plus 3+ years of commercial construction safety experience.
    • 4+ years of commercial construction experience, including at least 3 years in a dedicated safety leadership role.

    Additional qualifications:

    • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and commercial construction safety standards.
    • Experience conducting jobsite inspections, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action planning.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence safe behaviors across all levels of a project team.
    • Excellent organizational skills and experience maintaining safety and compliance documentation.
    • Ability to identify hazards, make sound decisions, and respond effectively in active construction environments.
    • Comfortable climbing ladders, accessing elevated work areas, walking uneven terrain, and working around heavy equipment and active jobsites.
