    Construction Project Manager 

    Penington Painting Company is a family-owned coatings contractor specializing in industrial and commercial coatings. We perform coating preparation and application, including chemical-resistant coatings, on floors, walls, ceilings, and other substrates based on each project’s requirements.     We are currently seeking a Construction Project Manager to manage coatings projects from setup through closeout while supporting estimating, pricing, and additional work as needed. This position is ideal for a construction professional who is highly organized, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and able to build strong working relationships with clients, field teams, and internal departments.

    • Salary: Starting at $80,000, depending on experience 

     

    About the Role 

    You will manage industrial and commercial coatings projects from setup through billing and closeout. The role is primarily focused on project management, with responsibility for estimating, cost control, pricing additional work, procurement, and client coordination as needed. 

    Key Responsibilities 

    Project Management and Cost Control 

    • Independently manage multiple scopes of work from project setup through closeout. 
    • Coordinate and track project information, files, drawings, materials, and correspondence. 
    • Manage submittals, budgets, and the Schedule of Values, and verify costs and labor hours against completed work. 
    • Review RFIs for cost and schedule impacts and coordinate responses with the production team. 
    • Prepare and track Extra Work Orders and support the customer approval process. 
    • Track and reconcile Time and Material work, including verifying ticket hours against hours charged to the job. 
    • Prepare billings and retention documentation and support project closeout. 

    Estimating and Procurement 

    • Perform takeoffs and prepare estimates for new work and additional project scope. 
    • Obtain competitive pricing and purchase materials. 
    • Prepare proposals with clear scopes, exclusions, and pricing. 

    Team, Safety, and Communication 

    • Participate in jobsite safety meetings and safety walks. 
    • Participate in weekly planning meetings for current and upcoming work. 
    • Collaborate with field and office teams to support safe, timely, and accurate project execution. 
    • Build strong client relationships and communicate clearly throughout the project lifecycle. 
    • Travel occasionally to support projects outside the local area. 

     

    The Ideal Candidate 

    The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and relationship-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow project items through completion. This person communicates clearly, maintains accurate project information, and works collaboratively with clients, field teams, and internal departments. 

    Experience 

    • Commercial or industrial construction experience in project management, estimating, or a combination of both: 3+ years required 
    • Industrial coatings project experience is a plus
