    Group: Construction Solutions

    Position: Construction Project Engineer

    Location: Northeast Ohio (Akron, Canton, Youngstown, Cleveland)

     

    American Structurepoint is looking for a Construction Project Engineer for our Construction Solutions Group. The project sites for this role will be predominantly around the northeastern Ohio area (Akron, Canton, Youngstown, Cleveland). 

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Inspect construction work on transportation and utility infrastructure projects to document conformity to construction standards and specifications
    • Assist in the coordination between contractors, designers, utilities, and local residents
    • Complete and maintain records of field observations, including daily reports outlining the work performed, as well as field measurements and computations for the quantity of completed work eligible for payment
    • Perform material sampling and testing on applicable materials such as soil sampling, compaction tests, concrete tests, etc.
    • Perform project administration duties such as preparing pay estimate and change orders for presentation to client or on behalf of the client.
    • Assist other project staff with identifying problems and developing viable solutions for consideration.
    • Review construction documents for constructability issues and provide feedback to owner/designer.
    • Respond and/or facilitate responses to RFI’s from contractors.
    • Serve as a representative of the firm at all required meetings, leading client coordination throughout the construction progress. Prepare meeting minutes including discussion topics, major decisions, action items, and information needs.
    • Utilize Microsoft Office, Appia, AASHTOWare and BlueBeam
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Technology (ABET), Construction Engineering, Construction Management (ACCE), or similar degree is required
    • Current Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
    • 15 or more years of transportation and/or utility infrastructure construction inspection experience is required
    • Extensive knowledge of ODOT standards and specifications
    • ODOT prequalified is preferred
    • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and standards
    • Willing to work in varying temperatures as most work assignments are outdoors.
    • Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, dragging, stooping, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
