We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Accountant to oversee financial operations across active construction and development projects. This role works directly alongside Project Managers and executive leadership to manage the full billing lifecycle, track job costs, execute change orders, and maintain strict compliance standards from project kickoff through final closeout.

We are currently seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Construction Project Accountant to join our dynamic team. This position is integral to our financial team and will be responsible for all aspects of project accounting, including but not limited to, job costing, managing change orders, liaising with subcontractors, and general contractor accounting. The successful candidate will be proficient in AIA billing, pay applications, lien waivers, WIP, T&M, and percentage of completion. This is a permanent position, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to our exciting projects while working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all project-related accounting tasks, including job costing, change orders, and contractor accounting.
  • Coordinate with project managers and subcontractors to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Process AIA billing, pay applications, lien waivers, and other necessary documentation.
  • Monitor and track WIP, T&M, and percentage of completion to provide accurate project status updates.
  • Analyze and report on project profitability, cash flow, and financial risks.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and budgets for projects.
  • Collaborate with the finance team and other departments to streamline processes and improve financial efficiency.
  • Participate in financial audits and implement audit recommendations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project accounting.
  • Proficiency in Viewpoint or similar construction accounting software.
  • Solid understanding of construction accounting processes, including job costing, change orders, subcontractor accounting, and general contractor accounting.
  • Experience with AIA billing, pay applications, lien waivers, WIP, T&M, and percentage of completion.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
