About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established construction and electrical contracting organization with a long-standing reputation for delivering complex commercial, industrial, government, and infrastructure projects. As the company continues to expand its General Contracting and Prime Contracting capabilities, they are seeking an experienced Line of Business Manager to lead project execution, financial performance, and team development across a diverse portfolio of construction projects.
This is a highly visible leadership role offering significant autonomy, business ownership, and the opportunity to directly influence operational growth and profitability.
Position Overview
The Line of Business Manager will oversee the successful delivery of multiple construction projects while maintaining full accountability for operational performance, financial results, client satisfaction, and team leadership.
The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of general contracting expertise, construction operations leadership, financial acumen, and experience managing complex multi-trade projects. This individual will serve as a key leader within the organization, driving project excellence from pre-construction through closeout.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Operations Leadership
- Lead the execution of multiple concurrent commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and government projects ranging from $500K to $10M+.
- Manage all phases of project delivery including planning, scheduling, procurement, permitting, subcontractor coordination, and construction execution.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Coordinate activities across multiple trades to ensure seamless project delivery and operational efficiency.
- Identify project risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
Financial & Business Management
- Maintain full P&L responsibility for assigned projects and business operations.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and job cost reporting.
- Oversee contract administration, change management, subcontractor agreements, and compliance requirements.
- Drive margin improvement and operational efficiencies through effective resource planning and cost control.
- Support strategic growth initiatives and business development efforts.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, superintendents, coordinators, and field personnel.
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on safety, execution, and continuous improvement.
- Support recruiting, succession planning, and employee development initiatives.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships through exceptional service and communication.
- Support pre-construction planning, estimating reviews, bid strategy, and contract negotiations.
- Represent the organization professionally throughout all project phases.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience within commercial, industrial, or infrastructure construction.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing projects in a General Contractor, Prime Contractor, or Construction Management environment.
- Demonstrated success managing complex multi-trade construction projects.
- Strong experience with project financials, forecasting, budgeting, and P&L accountability.
- Solid understanding of construction operations, project controls, contract administration, and subcontractor management.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electrical construction, power distribution, switchgear, generators, or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
- Lean Construction, PMP, or other relevant industry certifications.
- Experience working on government, municipal, industrial, or large-scale commercial projects.
