We are partnering with a growing organization seeking an experienced Construction Manager / Field Superintendent to oversee upcoming projects throughout California. This individual will serve as the primary leader in the field, bridging the gap between project strategy and day-to-day execution while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards.
This is a hands-on field leadership position requiring someone who is goal-oriented, highly organized, technically capable, and comfortable leading crews and subcontractors in an active construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Operations: Direct day-to-day field activities and maintain an organized and productive job site.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Schedule, manage, and inspect the work of subcontractors, trade partners, and field personnel.
- Schedule Management: Establish and monitor project goals and schedules to ensure critical milestones are achieved.
- Safety: Maintain a strong safety culture and enforce OSHA and company safety requirements.
- Quality Control: Conduct inspections and ensure work complies with project specifications, drawings, applicable codes, and quality requirements.
- Project Documentation: Prepare accurate and timely daily reports, transmittals, submittals, field documentation, and other project communications.
- Plans & Specifications: Interpret multidisciplinary blueprints, structural drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
- RFI & Change Orders: Prepare RFIs and support Project Management with change-order evaluation and field coordination.
- Cost Control: Monitor labor, materials, resources, and general project expenditures.
- Team Leadership: Establish clear performance expectations and hold field personnel accountable for results, safety, quality, and productivity.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, Construction Manager, Field Manager, or similar field leadership position.
- Strong field leadership experience with the ability to set realistic daily, weekly, monthly, and project-level goals.
- Excellent communication skills with experience accurately communicating specifications, project requirements, reports, submittals, and other technical information.
- Strong quality mindset with experience performing inspections and working within established QA/QC systems.
- Highly organized with the ability to process, maintain, and retrieve significant amounts of technical and project information.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, schematics, and project specifications.
- Experience with construction management software such as Procore or Autodesk preferred.
- OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR certifications required.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
Military Experience
Experienced military candidates with transferable leadership and technical experience are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates with 10+ years of U.S. Navy experience, particularly former E7, E8, or E9 Chiefs with backgrounds as Machinist's Mates, Electricians, Welders, Seabees, or similar technical specialties, may be considered in lieu of traditional construction industry experience.
