Description

Construction Estimator – Restoration and Reconstruction

Position Summary

The Construction Estimator prepares accurate repair, and reconstruction estimates for residential and commercial properties damaged by water, wind, fire, smoke, and other covered losses. This position uses Xactimate or Symbility to develop detailed scopes of work and manages estimates from initial inspection through revisions, approval, and final billing. The ideal candidate understands construction methods, building materials, trade sequencing, and

labor costs. Experience estimating drywall, painting, flooring, cabinetry, trim, doors, windows,

roofing, and other structural and finish repairs is preferred.

This is primarily an office-based position, with field inspections and site measurements as needed. Strong organization, communication, and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple projects across different geographic locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed, line-item construction estimates in Xactimate or Symbility for repair and reconstruction projects.
  • Inspect properties, take measurements, and review photographs, sketches, reports, and project documentation to establish the repair scope.
  • Identify the labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and permits needed to complete each project.
  • Develop scopes that address documented damage and the work necessary to return properties to their pre-loss condition.
  • Coordinate with project managers, field personnel, and subcontractors to verify repair methods, quantities, site conditions, and project requirements.
  • Obtain and review subcontractor and vendor quotes for scope accuracy, pricing, and completeness.
  • Evaluate construction costs and prepare project budgets that support accurate pricing and company profitability.
  • Review insurance carrier estimates to identify missing items, quantity discrepancies, and differences in repair scope.
  • Prepare supplements and supporting documentation for concealed damage, additional repairs, and applicable code requirements.
  • Communicate with adjusters, consultants, and program representatives to resolve scope and pricing differences and obtain written approvals.
  • Prepare customer proposals and document selections, allowances, upgrades, exclusions, and change orders.
  • Provide approved estimates, budgets, and scope details to the production team for scheduling and execution.
  • Maintain complete estimating files, including photographs, measurements, quotes, approvals, revisions, and customer authorizations.
  • Coordinate with project management and accounting to ensure final invoices reflect approved work and documented changes. Follow up on outstanding estimate approvals and billing questions to support timely project completion and payment.
