Construction Estimator - New York City

BELMONT Search is a Construction and Infrastructure executive search firm. We recruit estimators for general contractors and construction managers in New York City, at the estimator and senior estimator levels.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Estimator positions with established New York City general contractors, on commercial, institutional and residential projects. The positions sit in the preconstruction group, report to the chief estimator or the director of preconstruction, and at the senior level carry a bid from invitation through award.

THE ROLE

Conceptual and hard-bid estimating on ground-up and interior work: quantity takeoff, subcontractor and vendor pricing, general conditions and the assembled number, then the handoff to the project team that builds it.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Quantity takeoff and pricing across trades, conceptual through final
• Subcontractor bid solicitation, scope review and leveling
• General conditions, logistics and schedule assumptions behind the number
• Bid day assembly and the proposal to the owner
• Handoff of the estimate and buyout plan to project management
• Cost history maintained against the projects as they are built

QUALIFICATIONS

• Four or more years estimating building construction at a general contractor or construction manager; senior candidates will have eight or more
• New York City projects, ground-up or major interiors
• Fluent in an estimating platform such as Sage Estimating or ProEst, and in on-screen takeoff
• Field or project engineering experience is an advantage

COMPENSATION

Base of $120,000 to $170,000, plus bonus.
