Our client is a New Jersey-based commercial general contractor specializing in retail, restaurant, and self-storage construction projects. Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects. Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project requirements. Perform quantity take-offs and develop accurate cost projections. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals. Assist with bid preparation, submission, and scope reviews. Maintain and update estimating databases and cost information. Support value engineering efforts and cost-saving initiatives. Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and company leadership throughout the preconstruction process. Participate in pre-bid meetings and occasional site visits. Assist with budgeting, procurement planning, and project handoff activities. Ensure estimates align with project scope, schedule, and client expectations. 3+ years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor. Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and pricing. Experience performing take-offs and managing the bid process. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Windows-based programs. Experience with On-Screen Takeoff or similar estimating software preferred. Field experience as a superintendent, field engineer, or trade professional is a plus. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
