We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive bids for commercial interior construction projects.
This role will manage estimating from initial plan review through project handoff, developing detailed pricing for drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, commercial flooring, and related interior finish systems.
The ideal candidate has strong commercial interior estimating experience, excellent skills in quantity takeoffs and cost analysis, and the ability to develop competitive bids while identifying and minimizing project risk.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and related interior construction projects.
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents to determine scope and pricing requirements.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Develop complete cost estimates, budgets, bid proposals, and supporting documentation.
- Identify scope gaps, exclusions, constructability issues, value engineering opportunities, and project risks before bid submission.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, field teams, vendors, subcontractors, and clients to clarify scope and pricing assumptions.
- Maintain organized estimating files, historical pricing data, bid records, and project documentation.
- Support project turnover by providing estimate breakdowns, budget information, scope clarifications, and pricing details to operations.
- Monitor material pricing, labor costs, and market trends to maintain accurate and competitive estimates.
- Participate in post-bid reviews and help improve estimating processes and accuracy.
Requirements
- 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial interior construction.
- Experience estimating drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, commercial flooring, or related interior finish trades is required.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, and estimating practices.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
- Proven experience with detailed quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, budgeting, and bid preparation.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar estimating software preferred.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
