**Estimator — Fire/Safety, Civil/Structural

**

**Location: Remote

**

**Travel: 12- 15 days/month

**

**Contract to hire/ Direct hire (6+ months)

**

**Payrate: $45-$55/ hour on W2

**

**Position Summary

**

The Estimator is responsible for producing accurate, competitive pricing across fire protection/life safety, civil/structural, and general construction scopes of work for all active preconstruction projects. This role owns quantity takeoffs, ROM and detailed estimates, and subcontractor bid solicitation and leveling across these combined disciplines.

**Key Responsibilities

**

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for fire protection, life safety, civil, structural, and general construction scopes from drawings and specifications.

  • Develop ROM (rough order of magnitude) and detailed pricing for proposals, budgets, and GMPs.

  • Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and vendor bids across fire/safety, civil/structural, and general construction scopes.

  • Track and maintain current unit pricing for related materials and labor across all covered disciplines.

  • Coordinate with the Preconstruction Scheduler on procurement timelines for long-lead fire/life safety equipment and structural materials.

  • Support the Proposal & Contracts Coordinator with scope clarifications and exhibit backup.

  • Participate in basis-of-design (BOD) evaluations for fire/safety and civil/structural systems.

  • Enter and maintain estimate data in the Preconstruction portal.

  • Participate in equipment procurement process.

**Requirements & Qualifications

**

  • 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction (discipline-relevant experience across fire/safety, civil/structural, or general construction preferred).

  • Proficiency reading construction drawings and specifications.

  • Experience with estimating/takeoff software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar).

  • Strong understanding of subcontractor bid solicitation and leveling processes.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred, or equivalent field experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Broad general construction knowledge across trades, with the flexibility to support other Preconstruction functions as needed.

**Work Environment & Expectations

**

  • This position may be performed remotely. Our headquarters is located in Oviedo, FL, and gives the option to work from there as well.
