At EquipmentShare, we’re reimagining how the construction industry works. As a Construction Equipment Telematics Field Specialist (Mechanic) in Central Austin, TX, you’ll fuse hands-on expertise with real-time data to keep heavy equipment—and the communities they serve—moving forward.
Your Mission
Use our proprietary T3 platform to turn data into action. From creating and assigning work orders to tracking service intervals, ordering parts, and diagnosing across hundreds of makes and models, you’ll shorten downtime and deliver dependable fixes where they matter most—on site.
Impact Areas
- Execute preventative maintenance and complex repairs on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems for both customer and company-owned fleets, including aerial lifts.
- Operate confidently with laptops/tablets; document work thoroughly each day.
- Travel to customer job sites as required and maintain a clean, professional service vehicle.
- Model safe work practices; OSHA knowledge preferred.
- Coach lower-level technicians and pitch in with equipment/parts transport.
- Engage in year-round OEM training to master the newest fleet in the industry.
- Other duties as needed to support customers and teammates.
Work Structure
- Home base: Central Austin, TX rental facility.
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- Compensation: Overtime after 40 hours; additional pay for on-call participation.

Qualifications
- Owns tools relevant to the role.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and strong tool proficiency.
- Extensive construction equipment knowledge; fluent in reading schematics and diagrams.
- Outstanding customer service and clear communication (written and verbal).
Education & Experience
- High school diploma required; trade school certificate preferred.
- Experience with field service, maintenance, and repair preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable record; must be 21+ to operate a company vehicle.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move, stand, stoop, and bend without restriction.
- Lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Some customer sites require technicians to be clean shaven to gain access; be prepared to comply with site policies.
