Schedule: M-Th 6:00 am - 4:00 pm (Summer) M-F 7:00 am - 3:00 pm (Winter) Schedule may vary based on departmental need.

Pay Rate: $23.60 per hour

Description: SALARY $23.60 per hour POSITION SUMMARY

Performs various maintenance duties for the Water Works Department using heavy complex equipment including hydro-excavator.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED Not applicable

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates wheel excavator, track excavator, backhoe, front end loader, and skid loader.
  • Operates all department vehicles.
  • Performs manual labor as necessary.
  • Operates an air jack hammer and a wide variety of hand tools.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on departmental equipment.

NON-ESSENTIAL MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned, including coverage for other Utility Managers.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • Six months experience operating heavy equipment machinery.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be capable of performing strenuous physical labor.
  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to understand follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds.

CERTIFICATES LICENSE REGISTRATION

  • Valid Commercial Drivers License required.
  • Tanker endorsement required.

EQUIPMENT Saws, tampers, pumps, compressors, and other gas and hydraulic powered equipment and heavy equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed outdoors in adverse weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in wet and/or humid conditions and is exposed to airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to loud.
