Conflicts Analyst / Supervisor

Location: New York, NY
Company Stage of Funding: Established Law Firm (50+ Years)
Office Type: Hybrid (3 Days In Office)
Salary: $100,000–$130,000

Company Description

We're representing a highly respected entertainment, media, advertising, and technology-focused law firm seeking an experienced Conflicts Analyst / Supervisor to join its risk management and legal operations team. The firm represents major entertainment brands, video game companies, advertising agencies, musicians, actors, and other high-profile clients while maintaining a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture that differs from traditional Big Law environments.

This role offers the opportunity to work directly with firm leadership, including the General Counsel, while helping modernize and improve the firm's conflicts management function. The position combines complex analytical work, risk management, team leadership, and process improvement in a highly visible capacity.

What You Will Do

  • Manage the firm's end-to-end conflicts review and clearance process.
  • Analyze complex conflicts reports and identify potential ethical, business, and legal risks.
  • Independently determine whether matters can be cleared, require waivers, or should be escalated for additional review.
  • Apply Rules of Professional Conduct and internal firm policies to conflicts analyses.
  • Partner closely with the Office of General Counsel on sophisticated and sensitive conflicts matters.
  • Supervise and mentor conflicts team members while helping establish best practices.
  • Lead initiatives to modernize and improve conflicts workflows, procedures, and department operations.
  • Review new client and matter intake requests to ensure compliance with firm policies and ethical obligations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation supporting conflicts decisions and approvals.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and firm leadership to balance business objectives with risk management requirements.
  • Help develop scalable processes that support continued firm growth and operational efficiency.

Ideal Background

  • 5+ years of dedicated conflicts management experience within a law firm environment.
  • Proven experience analyzing complex conflicts reports rather than solely generating reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently clear routine conflicts without requiring constant oversight.
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading conflicts team members.
  • Strong understanding of legal conflicts rules, ethics requirements, and professional responsibility obligations.
  • Experience working directly with attorneys, partners, and legal leadership.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and occasional urgent requests.

Preferred

  • JD or LL.M.
  • Experience with Aderant, Elite, Expert Sierra, iManage, or similar conflicts management platforms.
  • Background at large law firms with sophisticated conflicts and risk management functions.
  • Experience leading departmental process improvement or modernization initiatives.
  • Familiarity with entertainment, media, intellectual property, advertising, technology, or corporate legal practices.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and navigate complex organizational dynamics.
  • History of strong tenure and career progression within law firm environments.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $100,000–$130,000 (flexibility available for exceptional candidates).
  • Hybrid work schedule with remote Mondays and Fridays and in-office collaboration Tuesday through Thursday.
  • Opportunity to work directly with the General Counsel and senior firm leadership.
  • Significant ownership and visibility within a critical risk management function.
  • Collaborative culture that combines boutique-firm flexibility with sophisticated legal work.
  • Opportunity to help modernize and shape the future of the firm's conflicts department.
  • Exposure to high-profile clients across entertainment, media, technology, advertising, and intellectual property sectors.
  • Long-term career growth opportunities within a highly respected law firm.
