Configuration Management SW Build Manager

As a Configuration Management Software Build Manager, you’ll use software configuration management tools and established processes to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of internally developed and externally acquired software products. Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus 6 months relevant experience.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position:

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As a Configuration Management Software Build Manager, you’ll use software configuration management tools and established processes to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of internally developed and externally acquired software products. You’ll contribute to the creation and maintenance of software configuration documentation, build and packaging activities, and configuration management processes in collaboration with software development and project teams.

• Experience supporting software builds, releases, and packaging activities
• Familiarity with software configuration management tools such as Git, IBM EWM (formerly RTC), and/or Windchill ePDM
• Experience developing or maintaining build, installation, or automation scripts
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle and configuration management principles
• Experience working with third-party software libraries or open-source software tracking
• Ability to work effectively with software engineers and cross-functional project teams

Job Duties / Skills

• Uses software configuration management tools and established processes to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of internally developed and externally acquired software products.
• Compiles, builds, assembles, and packages software from source code following established build procedures.
• Creates, updates, and maintains configuration management and build documentation.
• Implements and follows established build requirements and procedures in support of software product development and delivery.
• Assists with tracking and maintaining third-party software (TPS) libraries.
• Participates in analysis, evaluations, and process-improvement activities 
• Works with project teams to support build schedules and initiate assigned build and packaging activities.
• Works with development engineers to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve build errors.
• Contributes to the completion of project milestones and assigned deliverables.
• Develops and maintains scripts or programs used for building, packaging, or installing software products.
• Supports the development and maintenance of program plans and Configuration/Data Management Plans.
• Applies established technical solutions to a range of moderately complex problems.
• Runs Change Control Boards (CCB) and Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Acton System (FRACAS) boards.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Working knowledge and application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in software configuration management.
• General understanding of software development practices and related disciplines.
• Good time-management, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Working proficiency with Software Configuration Management applications and tools, such as Git, IBM EWM (formerly RTC), and/or Windchill ePDM.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Note: This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
