Summary
The Engineer – Order to Remittance (OTR) Configuration Management, Project Structuring ST/GEN, is responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining project structures and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for Steam Turbine and Generator products. This role supports the transformation of product requirements and engineering design intent into actionable product definitions through Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. The position plays a critical role in supporting new unit requisitions, configuration management activities, changing management processes, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
 
Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, and manage Engineering Bills of Materials (EBOMs) and Unit BOMs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Convert and release Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs) into ERP systems, including PowerMax and similar platforms.
  • Support the Inquiry to Order (ITO) team, including Commercial and Application Engineering, during the transition of project scope definitions following order release activities.
  • Collaborate with Project Engineering to ensure timely handoff and management of requisition scope definitions within PLM systems.
  • Verify accurate generation of logical features and configuration options through established variant configuration processes and tools.
  • Investigate and resolve configuration discrepancies in partnership with configuration management and engineering teams.
  • Support Preliminary Bill of Materials (PBOM) review activities for Steam Turbine and Generator products.
  • Validate standard parts selected through Global BOM (GBOM) rules and support Configure-to-Order (CtO) initiatives to maximize direct release percentages.
  • Assist manufacturing and sourcing teams in resolving BOM-related concerns, including timeliness, accuracy, and data integrity issues.
  • Conduct routine BOM integrity monitoring and reporting activities.
  • Execute configuration management responsibilities associated with engineering and product change management processes.
  • Collaborate with sourcing, manufacturing, project engineering, design engineering, and other cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and Lean initiatives.
  • Ensure all configuration management activities comply with Company procedures, processes, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of project structures for new unit requisitions from order release through commercial operation.
  • Manage Steam Turbine and Generator Conversion, Modification, and Uprate (CMU) BOM activities as required.
 
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
 
Experience Requirements
  • Experience supporting product definition development and lifecycle management processes.
  • Experience with Bill of Materials (BOM) creation, maintenance, and management.
  • Knowledge of configuration management concepts and practices.
  • Experience working with programming or project scheduling activities.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, sourcing, engineering, or field installation processes.
  • Experience coordinating and collaborating across multiple cross-functional teams.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $42.73 - $42.73 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
