I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
To efficiently & safely perform the duties of Conductor at Lolita Packaging, LLC.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Maintain logbook & relieve Shift properlyInspect equipment & railcars for damageReport all repairs needed to Supervision promptlyComplete all shift inspectionsRead and understand switch listsDetermine most efficient plan for switching dutiesDetermine the most efficient use of Locomotive for switching dutiesPrepare accurate train listOperate locomotive safely & efficientlyOperate yard and track switchesRespond to switching requests in a professional timely mannerEnsure locomotive inspection check is done properlyGuide activity of brakemanEnsure safety of switching operationPerform air brake testComply with NGT (Nothing Touch the Ground) requirements. Including daily auditsBe active in Operation Clean Sweep and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposalTo be knowledgeable in all duties performed by a Bulk LoaderWill abide by the Quality Policy regarding ISO 9000 and will abide by the Environmental, Health and Safety requirements as they pertain to ISO 14001Work outside normal shift hours as neededMaintain regular and reliable attendanceOther duties as assigned
III. QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High School graduate or equivalentValid Driver's License
Previous Related Experience Required
High School graduate or equivalentValid Driver's LicenseMinimum of one-year railroad switching experience as a conductor, or switching foreman utilizing locomotive as switching power
Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job
Understanding of locomotive and railcar movements, couple and uncouple railcars, perform switching operations, and position railcars on designated tracksUnderstand hand signals, radio communications, movement instructions, track designations, and procedures for coordinating movements with other personnelSafety Certification or safety classes a plus but not requiredSelf-motivated, curious and eager to learnWillingness to take over areas of responsibilities
