Role OverviewThe Concrete Estimator is responsible for leading
estimating efforts for structural and site concrete scopes, ensuring all bids are accurate, competitive, and aligned with real-world construction execution.
This is a
high-impact preconstruction role that directly influences project profitability, backlog quality, and successful delivery before projects begin.
Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Takeoffs- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for:
- Structural concrete
- Site concrete scopes
- Analyze:
- Plans
- Specifications
- Bid documents
- Develop full cost estimates including:
- Labor
- Materials
- Equipment
- Subcontractors
- Identify scope gaps, risks, and opportunities
Structural Concrete Scope Development- Estimate scopes including:
- Foundations
- Footings
- Walls
- Slabs
- Columns
- Elevated concrete systems
- Understand and price:
- Formwork systems
- Rebar
- Embedded elements
- Evaluate constructability and sequencing
Bid Strategy & Pricing- Participate in pricing strategy discussions
- Develop competitive bids while protecting margins
- Adjust estimates based on:
- Market conditions
- Schedule constraints
- Project complexity

Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor bids
- Compare and level pricing to ensure full scope coverage
- Maintain relationships with:
- Concrete suppliers
- Rebar vendors
- Formwork providers
- Coordinate with specialty trades
Preconstruction & Operations Alignment- Collaborate with operations and project teams
- Support project handoff from estimating to execution
- Provide input on:
- Sequencing
- Logistics
- Production planning
- Assist with budget clarification and scope interpretation
Risk Identification & Cost Control- Identify risks related to:
- Site conditions
- Constructability
- Schedule
- Scope gaps
- Build contingencies and assumptions into estimates
- Ensure estimates reflect realistic production rates
- Support continuous improvement of estimating processes
