Position Overview
Huntington Ingalls Industries is seeking experienced Computer Systems Security Analysts 3 to support cybersecurity, information security, and enterprise IT security initiatives at Newport News Shipbuilding.
This role combines technical security analysis, risk assessment, vulnerability analysis, project and program management support, data analysis, and collaboration with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong cybersecurity background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate security findings and recommendations to technical teams and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Design, test, and implement secure operating systems, networks, and database solutions.
Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and recommend appropriate security controls.
Analyze security architectures, firewalls, network traffic, and access controls.
Apply encryption technologies and information security safeguards.
Perform vulnerability analysis, penetration testing, and security research.
Prepare technical security reports and documentation.
Analyze project plans, operational objectives, budgets, staffing needs, and risks.
Support labor resource management, operational scheduling, and program performance analysis.
Prepare management briefings, presentations, and status reports.
Lead meetings with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders.
Identify operational risks and recommend corrective actions.
Support project and program management activities.
Use Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
Coach and mentor team members and support organizational development.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of experience, Master's degree plus 3 years, or Ph.D. with 0 years of experience.
A relevant professional certification may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
Strong cybersecurity and IT security knowledge.
Analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Ability to lead meetings, prepare briefings, and collaborate across teams.
Ability to coach and mentor others.
Strong attention to detail and independent problem-solving skills.
Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
Ability to work onsite in Newport News, Virginia.
Preferred Qualifications
Project or program management experience.
Program Office experience.
Earned Value Management (EVM) and cost analysis.
Labor resource management and operational scheduling.
Budget and manpower analysis.
PMP or Six Sigma certification.
Experience preparing management briefings and working with customers or executive leadership.
