Computer Science & Technology Teacher West Springfield Middle School

West Springfield Middle School is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Computer Science & Technology Teacher for students in grades 6-8. The successful candidate will inspire students to become creative problem-solvers and responsible digital citizens through engaging, hands on learning experiences. The teacher will create a positive classroom environment that fosters curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking while preparing students with essential technology skills for high school and beyond.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach computer science and technology courses to students in grades 6-8.
  • Deliver instruction in areas including: Computer applications and digital literacy Coding and computational thinking Digital citizenship and online safety Multimedia and video production Emerging technologies and creative technology projects
  • Design engaging, standards based lessons that meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Integrate project-based learning and real-world problem-solving into instruction.
  • Assess student learning and provide timely feedback to support academic growth.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Effectively integrate educational technology into classroom instruction.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support school-wide technology initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other school responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Massachusetts teaching license appropriate for the assignment (Digital Literacy/Computer Science 5-12)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer science, educational technology, and digital learning tools.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, families, and administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching middle school students.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace for Education and other instructional technology platforms.

Salary: Per Unit A Contract Salary Range: $53,939 - $102,056

Work Year: 184 days
