SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Computer Engineer III to conduct research, development, design, integration, testing, and lifecycle support of Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Electronic Warfare (EW), and Carry-On Equipment (COE) systems. The position supports Linux-based engineering and operational environments and requires cross-functional collaboration to develop, integrate, troubleshoot, and sustain complex, mission-critical systems.

The successful candidate will support systems throughout the engineering lifecycle, from requirements definition and development through integration, test, deployment, troubleshooting, and post-delivery support.

Position Responsibilities
Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Evaluate operational SIGINT/EW/COE systems and recommend hardware, software, or system design modifications to resolve malfunctions, improve performance, address operational deficiencies, and incorporate new capabilities.
  • Support requirements gathering, software development, integration, testing, validation, and implementation of software and code into system operating environments.
  • Support field operations, system installations, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and sustainment of SIGINT/EW systems aboard naval platforms
  • Analyze system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and system-level issues to identify root causes and develop appropriate corrective actions.
  • Support Linux-based engineering and operational environments used for system development, integration, testing, and deployment.
  • Conduct technical research and evaluate hardware and software technologies to identify lifecycle and obsolescence risks and support development of appropriate technology-refresh and replacement strategies.
  • Develop and maintain engineering and technical documentation supporting system configuration, operation, testing, troubleshooting, deployment, and lifecycle sustainment.
  • Collaborate with software, RF, systems, test, and other engineering disciplines to support system development, integration, and operational requirements.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to less experienced personnel and support the training and professional development of junior engineering and technical staff.

Required Technical Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
  • Six (6) or more years of full-time professional experience supporting SIGINT, Electronic Warfare (EW), Carry-On Equipment (COE), or comparable complex electronic systems in one or more of the following areas:
    • Test and evaluation
    • System design and integration
    • Software development or integration
    • Performance analysis
    • Concept of Operations (CONOPS)
    • Post-delivery or lifecycle support
  • Experience working within Linux-based engineering or operational environments.
  • Experience supporting the integration, testing, troubleshooting, or deployment of software within operational or engineering development systems.
  • Experience evaluating operational systems and identifying hardware, software, or system-level modifications necessary to correct deficiencies or improve performance.
  • Experience conducting technical research and supporting hardware/software replacement or technology-refresh strategies to proactively mitigate technological obsolescence.

Required Competencies
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate complex system-level problems and identify appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines and collaborate with technical personnel, program leadership, customers, and operational stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently while exercising sound engineering judgment and appropriately coordinating technical decisions with the broader engineering team.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance, mentorship, and direction to junior engineering and technical personnel.

Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred:
  • Experience with RF data acquisition, spectral analysis, signal processing, and DSP based signal detection techniques.
  • Familiarity with RF system design, analysis, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience using RF test and measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers, Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), signal generators, and related instrumentation.
  • Experience integrating RF hardware, software, digital signal processing, and computer-based subsystems into larger SIGINT/EW systems.
  • Experience supporting engineering development, prototype, or operational SIGINT/EW systems in laboratory and field environments.
  • Experience supporting systems installed aboard U.S. Navy or other Department of Defense platforms.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Six (6) or more years of relevant professional engineering experience supporting SIGINT/EW/COE or comparable complex electronic systems.

Other Requirements
  • Ability and willingness to support CONUS and OCONUS travel for engineering field testing, system installation, troubleshooting, integration, and deployment activities.
  • Ability to support engineering activities aboard naval platforms, at government facilities, and at other field locations as required.
