The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manages the systems budget preparation and maintains budget controls.
  • Prepares and submits regular and special reports needed by the CSFO, Superintendent, Board, and State Department of Education.
  • Administers and supervises all receipts and disbursements in conformity with policy and administrative procedures.
  • Administers the investment of school funds under the direction of the Chief School Financial Officer.
  • Reviews system balance sheet and maintains schedules to support balances.
  • Assumes lead roll in fiscal year end closing process and file submission.
  • Works collaboratively with local tax authorities and legislators regarding school system revenues.
  • Keeps proper files of all records to justify, interpret and support all financial transactions.
  • Assists with research necessary for school system warrant sales and handling the sale of school warrants.
  • Performs any other duties prescribed by the Chief School Financial Officer, the Superintendent, and the Board.
  • Serves as an officer to the Board of School Commissioners and is responsible to the Chief School Financial Officer.
  • Supervises the following departments: General Accounting, Loc.al School Accounting, Accounts Payable, Risk Management, Budget, and Asset/Warehouse Management.
  • Serves as custodian of public-school funds except that designated to be handled by principals.
  • Keep comprehensive records of all receipts and expenditures in conformity with the law and policies of the State Board of Education, Department of Public Examiners State of Alabama, the Federal Government, and the Board of School Commissioners of Mobile County.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a college degree in School of Business Management with emphasis in accounting, finance, and managerial coursework.

Knowledge of the State of Alabama Financial Planning, Budgeting and Reporting System for Alabama Public Schools is highly desired.

Completion of the AASBO CSFO Certification program is preferred.

Must have good analytical ability and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting and financial areas.

Should have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a supervisor or administrator over other personnel.

Must have good communication skills and have the understanding and ability to prepare reports for top-level administrators.

Must be able to get along well with others and maintain good public relations with vendors, school system personnel, and the community at large.

Duty Days 260

Salary Range: From/To Beginning pay - $84,473.00
