Description

Passport BMW is seeking an experienced BMW Automotive Accounting Comptroller in Suitland, MD to oversee financial reporting, internal controls, cash management, and daily accounting operations for a high-volume retail dealership. Top candidates must have at least 3 years of dealership accounting experience, expert Excel skills, and a strong background in automotive inventory and compliance accounting.

Job Responsibilities

Job Duties

  • Financial Reporting & Management: Oversee general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, schedules, month/year-end closes, and prepare GAAP and manufacturer-compliant financial statements.
  • Treasury & Internal Controls: Monitor cash flow and banking relationships while maintaining strict internal controls and managing factory, bank, and reserve reconciliations.
  • Audits & Leadership: Coordinate internal and external audits, provide executive financial analysis, and train/supervise accounting staff.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

  • Experience & Expertise: 3+ years as an Automotive Controller or Assistant Controller with deep knowledge of dealership statements, inventory accounting, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Technical Skills: Highest-priority proficiency in Microsoft Excel along with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Leadership & Operations: Proven ability to manage teams, ensure compliance, and collaborate effectively across departments.
