The Compounding Technician accurately measures, mixes, and prepares batches according to detailed formulations in a manufacturing environment. This role operates compounding equipment, follows batch cards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and works closely with quality control and production teams to ensure consistent, high-quality products. The position runs on a 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. schedule and suits someone who enjoys hands-on work, precise calculations, and contributing to a close-knit, family-oriented workplace.

Responsibilities

• Accurately measure and mix ingredients according to specific formulations and recipes.
• Perform precise weighing and calculations to ensure correct ingredient proportions for each batch.
• Follow batch cards meticulously to prepare batches that meet all specifications and standards.
• Operate, monitor, and adjust compounding, blending, and batching equipment and machinery.
• Perform production tasks such as mixing, blending, batch making, and operating related machines.
• Conduct product inspections to confirm all products meet defined quality and safety standards.
• Provide product samples to the laboratory for quality control testing as required.
• Document all processes and maintain accurate, up-to-date records of batches and production activities.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area, including equipment and production spaces.
• Collaborate with quality control and production teams to ensure product consistency and quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the compounding, mixing, or batching process.
• Handle and work carefully with expensive ingredients, ensuring minimal waste and accurate usage.
• Apply solid attention to detail when performing calculations for product specifications and documentation.
• Work independently and manage multiple tasks while meeting production timelines and quality expectations.

Essential Skills

• Experience in compounding, mixing, blending, or batch making in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a production setting.
• Hands-on experience with weighing, batching, and operating production or compounding equipment.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed batch cards, formulations, and instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements, calculations, and documentation.
• Ability to perform precise calculations related to product specifications and ingredient proportions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with production and quality control teams.
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping, documentation, and data entry.
• Ability to lift and move heavy ingredients and equipment as needed.
• Comfort working in a manufacturing-type setting with machinery and production processes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Additional education in food science or a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in a compounding or manufacturing environment, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
• Experience with distillation, chemical handling, or batch mixer operations is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to follow detailed procedures and standard operating instructions.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and grow in the role.
• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing-type setting where you will work with compounding, blending, and batching equipment, as well as expensive ingredients that require careful handling. The standard schedule runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will wear a company-provided uniform, and during the warmer summer months, shorts are permitted due to higher temperatures in the facility. The culture reflects a family-owned, work-hard-play-hard environment with straightforward communication and interaction at various levels across the organization. You will work in an independent setting that requires strong attention to detail, accurate calculations for product specifications, and thorough documentation. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belcamp, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
