Summary:
Lays out, assembles, pre-fits, and bonds a variety of metal, composite, or laminate fabrications, assemblies, parts, skins, and equipment.
Follows engineering and manufacturing specifications and orders to determine parts to be bonded and the temperature and pressure required.
Cuts parts or materials to size for composite and metal assemblies.
Operates autoclave, hydraulic presses, and ovens to complete the bonding cycle.
Sands, burrs, and smoothes over areas of composite assemblies.
Applies sealing resins to cut or exposed edges of composite parts.
Performs complicated rework or repair on composite and metal assemblies.
Utilizes lay-up tools including optical and hard tools in fabrication of composite and metal assemblies.
Uses shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments to complete work assignments.
Uses and controls solvents and cleaning solutions in preparation of details, tools, and assemblies for bonding and paint per established procedures.
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
Experience in composite lay-up, fabrication, and bonding of metal and composite assemblies.
Experience operating autoclave, hydraulic presses, and ovens for composite bonding.
Experience with sanding, burring, and smoothing composite parts.
Experience applying sealing resins and potting resins to composite parts.
Experience with composite or fiberglass repairs and rework of composite parts.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, prints, and work instructions.
Ability to use precision measuring instruments and shop mathematics.
Experience using and controlling solvents and cleaning solutions for bonding and paint preparation.
Preferred: Prior autobody repair or fiberglass boat manufacturing or repair experience.
