Summary:
Lays out, assembles, pre-fits, and bonds a variety of metal, composite, and laminate fabrications, assemblies, parts, skins, and equipment.
Follows engineering and manufacturing specifications and orders to determine parts to be bonded and the temperature and pressure required.
Cuts parts or materials to size for composite and metal assemblies.
Operates autoclave, hydraulic presses, and ovens to complete the bonding cycle.
Sands, burrs, and smoothes over areas of composite and metal assemblies.
Applies sealing resins to cut or exposed edges of composite parts.
Performs complicated rework or repair on composite and metal assemblies.
Utilizes lay-up tools, including both optical and hard tools, in the fabrication of composite and metal assemblies.
Uses shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments to complete work assignments.
Uses and controls solvents and cleaning solutions in the preparation of details, tools, and assemblies for bonding and paint per established procedures.
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
High School Diploma or GED, or WorkKeys Assessment completion.
Minimum 2 years of experience in aviation production or equivalent.
Preferred: 5+ years of experience in aviation production.
Ability to work any shift and work overtime as needed.
Knowledge of station safety, quality (FOD), and OSHA regulations.
Ability to use a variety of tools for composite and metal assembly tasks.
Basic computer skills with SAP and Excel knowledge required.
Ability to successfully complete training including Health & Safety, General aircraft familiarization, and Quality Training.
Ability to articulate complex issues to others and communicate effectively in English.
Preferred: Training from a vocational school or previous employer in the use of composite lay-ups and fabrication.
