    Description

    The Component Engineer is responsible for overall component specification, selection and documentation.  Assists Supply Chain in identifying alternate parts.  Also manages parts obsolescence for production thereby ensuring supply. 
     
    • Identify and select components per requirements, verify long lead delivery concerns, and End of Life projections to support Production plans; requires close coordination with Engineering, Supply Chain and Program Management
    • Identify available alternate parts and present the information to the customer for approval
    • Assist Production when parts arrive not as expected; determine if parts can be used or if a risk mitigation plan is necessary
    • Provide proactive obsolescence management (life cycle component management) by monitoring parts availability and communicating concerns and proposed solutions to allow for appropriate planning


    • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Minimum 3 years of electronics manufacturing experience with circuit card assemblies and box builds
    • Knowledge of electrical parts and semiconductors and their processes
    • Ability to interpret customer drawings and applications
    • Certified IPC-A-610 & J-STD-001 or ability to obtain certification
    • Knowledge of counterfeit mitigation practices 
    • Ability to interact effectively with teammates and suppliers
    • Proactive problem solver
    • Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills required
    • Vision corrected to 20/20
    • Ability to obtain a Government granted security clearance, if necessary
    • Pre-employment criminal background check & drug screening required.
