    Position Overview
    As a Compliance Specialist, you’ll be responsible for processing and maintaining file compliance for Section 42 (Housing Tax Credit/HTC), the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), and additional programs as assigned. You’ll support a specific region that may include multiple states, partnering closely with onsite property management teams to ensure resident files, reporting, and workflows meet program and state requirements.

    This is a remote, non-exempt position reporting to the Compliance Supervisor.

    Key Responsibilities
    Provide exceptional compliance support and customer service to onsite teams throughout the file approval process, including phone and email support
    Answer file-related questions and provide phone-based training on file processes
    Review completed resident files submitted by property staff and confirm compliance with applicable program and state requirements
    Provide clear direction when assigning corrections and tasks to site teams
    Manage compliance workflows in file approval software and ensure the correct workflow is consistently followed
    Maintain extensive working knowledge of Section 42 (HTC) and HOME program rules and reporting requirements
    Update State Reporting agencies with current occupancy information
    Develop and maintain detailed compliance information sheets for the assigned portfolio and distribute as needed
    Notify the Compliance Supervisor when substantial issues or trends are identified
    Ensure site compliance with rules and regulations established by regulatory agencies and subsidy programs
    Process Annual Recertifications in a timely manner
    Review and maintain resident files for compliance approval
    Complete other duties as assigned

    Qualifications
    High school diploma or GED required
    2 years of relevant experience required
    Knowledge of HUD programs including Section 8, Section 236, and Section 42
    Ability to research program requirements and plan implementation across assigned programs or new programs as needed
    Ability to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities
    Strong time management skills and attention to detail
    Yardi experience preferred
    HCCP designation to be obtained after 24 months in the position

    Skills and Knowledge
    Language: Ability to read, write, speak, and interpret basic instructions and correspondence; present information one-on-one or in small groups
    Math: Ability to perform basic math with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compare rates, ratios, and percentages; interpret basic graphs
    Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
    Computer: Intermediate experience with MS Office, MS Outlook, State Reporting websites, Internet Explorer, and Yardi
