    Description

    The Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) Office of General Counsel is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Compliance Investigator to support investigations within the Department of Compliance & Risk Management across our 10-college district.

    This position plays a key role in advancing the District's commitment to compliance with federal and state civil rights laws and Non-Discrimination Policies. The investigator supports the intake, assessment, investigation, and resolution of reports and complaints involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other civil rights matters involving both students and employees. The position also supports the District's ethics and ombuds reporting system by conducting investigations into reports of misconduct, fraud, safety concerns, and other policy violations, helping ensure concerns are reviewed and resolved in accordance with District policies and procedures.

    Working closely with the Director of Equal Opportunity and Investigations, the Compliance team, and campus leadership, the investigator provides investigative support to help ensure reports are addressed promptly, fairly, and in accordance with applicable laws and District policies.

    While the primary focus of this position is investigative work, the role may occasionally provide support on pregnancy and parenting matters, as needed, in coordination with the District's Pregnancy & Parenting Analyst.

    Essential Functions

    Investigation and Report Writing (40%)

    Review and respond to reports and complaints involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other concerns or ethics complaints under District policies and applicable federal and state laws; conduct intake meetings and initial case assessments for reports involving students, employees, and third parties; conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations, including interviews of complainants, respondents, and witnesses; prepare clear, well-organized investigative reports summarizing evidence, findings, and supporting materials.

    Administrative and Case Management Duties (30%)

    Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential case records in the District's case management systems; ensure documentation related to reports, intake meetings, investigations, supportive measures, and case outcomes is maintained in accordance with District recordkeeping requirements; assist with maintaining case tracking systems used by Compliance; participate in ongoing professional development related to civil rights compliance, investigative practices, and higher education policy.

    Education and Training (20%)

    Provide training and consultation to faculty, staff, students, and campus leadership regarding civil rights protections, reporting processes, and Non-Discrimination Policies; assist with training related to Title IX requirements, equal opportunity protections, and reporting obligations; contribute to the development and delivery of presentations, educational materials, and informational resources to support awareness of civil rights protections.
