The Compliance Specialist is responsible for overseeing compliance operations for a portfolio of affordable housing properties with multiple regulatory programs. This position works closely with site staff, Operations, and the Regional Compliance Manager to ensure all resident files, certifications, and occupancy activities comply with federal, state, county, and agency requirements. The Compliance Specialist serves as a subject matter expert and resource to site teams while supporting timely and accurate processing of compliance-related documentation.Maintain a hybrid schedule with no more than 2–3 remote workdays per week to ensure strong onsite visibility, relationship‑building, and prompt response to site concerns.Oversee compliance operations for assigned properties to ensure adherence to HUD, LIHTC, Section 8, and other applicable program requirementsEnsure site staff complete and submit all required compliance paperwork accurately and within required deadlinesPartner with the Regional Compliance Manager to hold bi-weekly meetings with the Regional Manager and site staff to address compliance concerns, implement corrective action plans, and improve compliance and operational outcomesReview initial certifications, annual recertifications, interim certifications, and terminations for program complianceEnsure all move-ins are compliant with applicable program regulations and occupancy requirements prior to approvalProvide guidance and support to site staff regarding compliance procedures, documentation requirements, and regulatory changesServe as a compliance resource and maintain expert-level knowledge of affordable housing programs and regulationsMonitor recertification timelines and ensure notices are generated in accordance with HUD and IRS requirementsAssist the regional compliance manager with on site annual internal audit of site files to maintain regulatory complianceAssist site staff on-site with file completion, corrections, and deficiency resolution to ensure deadlines are metAssist site staff on-site with preparation for audits, management reviews, agency reviews, and file inspectionsGenerate vacancy claims and repayment agreements for Compliance Manager review and approvalEnter HAP voucher payments, when applicableAct as backup support for other members of the Compliance DepartmentAssist with monthly and annual reporting when requestedAttend required trainings and continuing education to maintain compliance expertiseEnsure compliance with all Federal, State, and local Fair Housing regulationsPerform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Solid understanding of subsidy and fair housing regulations and practicesAbility to maintain a positive, customer-focused attitudeEnthusiastic team playerStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of peopleA commitment to excellence in customer serviceAbility to effectively use, leverage, and learn technology platformsYardi experience preferredHUD project based affordable housing experience preferred
