Overview:

The Division of Complex Health Care at Nationwide Children's Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine is actively seeking a qualified Academic Pediatrician to join our team as the Associate Division Chief for Research (ADCR).

The successful candidate will have a track record of independent research and be eligible for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level. The ADCR will lead the expansion of the Division's research activities by mentoring the rest of the Division's research endeavors, as well as continuing their own academic career. A major goal will be building connections between the clinical enterprise and the Research Institute, which consists of 13 multidisciplinary centers of excellence.

The Division provides primary and specialty care to children and adults with complex medical needs. Our service is holistic, family-centered, and aims to improve health outcomes by reducing fragmentation of care. The Division includes the Complex Health Care Clinic, the Comprehensive Cerebral Palsy Program, and the Comprehensive Pediatric Feeding Program. We also have a consultative inpatient program and sponsor a complex care fellowship.

The successful candidate will join an expanding division that consists of an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, dieticians, care coordinators, nurses, medical assistants, and a pharmacist. Opportunities exist to join any of the Division's programs, as well as other clinical teams at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Candidates must be BC/BE in Pediatrics. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, be able to think critically, have a strong medical background to provide outstanding medical care for individuals with medical complexity, and understand the importance of teamwork.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts patient assessments and diagnoses medical conditions.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans for patients in accordance with established protocols. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Communicates with patients and their families to provide education and support.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals.
  • Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows as required.
  • Stays up-to-date with medical advancements and research to provide the best possible care.

Education Requirement:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent, required.
  • Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable, required.

Licensure Requirement:

  • Medical License in the State of Ohio, required.
  • Unrestricted licensed physician, required.

Certifications:

Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatrics, required.
