Position: Compensation and Benefits Specialist
Location: NW Grand Rapids, MI | Onsite
Salary: $65,000-$80,000

We've partnered with a growing, employee-owned manufacturing company in the Grand Rapids area that is looking to add a Compensation & Benefits Specialist to its HR team.

You'll play an important role in shaping the employee experience while managing compensation, benefits, HRIS administration, and payroll-related processes in a highly visible position.


Compensation and Benefits Specialist Responsibilities:



  • Administer and support a comprehensive benefits program including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, wellness initiatives, and 401(k) plans.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit and compensation-related questions, ensuring a positive employee experience.

  • Partner with HR, payroll, and leadership teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee changes and compensation updates.

  • Leverage Workday and ADP to maintain employee data, benefit enrollments, compensation records, and reporting.

  • Coordinate open enrollment activities and assist with benefit renewals, audits, and vendor relationships.

  • Resolve benefit administration issues while working directly with insurance carriers and third-party providers.

  • Support compensation administration, including pay-related inquiries and policy interpretation.

  • Process and monitor payroll deductions, garnishments, and benefit-related transactions.

  • Prepare reports, analyze compensation and benefits data, and provide insights to support HR initiatives.

  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.

  • Backup to payroll and additional HR functions


Compensation & Benefits Specialist Education & Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Dependable, reliable, and responsible

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Proficient with payroll software - Workday

  • Prior experience with benefits administration
