    Position Summary:

    The community wellness specialist will engage in environmental and educational strategies to aid in the prevention of opioid and other drug misuse in the county they serve. The community wellness specialist will also address the availability of opioids, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs in the targeted communities.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    1. Implement substance abuse prevention interventions for young adults (18-25) and senior citizens (65+) in the targeted communities.

    2. Provide education to the community and paraprofessionals on how to recognize an overdose and utilize harm reduction materials (i.e., Narcan, etc.).

    3. Organize and conduct drug takebacks and health fairs in the targeted communities, including events with mobile health unit(s).

    4. Document all services in a timely, complete, and clinically appropriate manner

    5. Perform other duties as assigned by the executive team, community wellness director, or managing director.

    Position Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in Public Health, Social Work, Behavioral Science, or a related field.
    • Prior experience in substance abuse treatment/prevention is preferred
    • Good driving record; Willingness to drive personal vehicle and company mobile health unit; motor vehicle report required
    • Strong organizational skills; self-motivated
    • Excellent teamwork skills
    • Excellent problem-solving capabilities

    Travel:

    This position requires local and statewide travel to develop community partnerships and to attend meetings.

    Must be willing to use and have your own personal transportation.

    Mileage reimbursement for personal use of the vehicle is included.

    Benefits: Benefits are excellent including health insurance with dental, retirement, paid vacations, and sick leave.

    Employee can vary their start and end times, though they must complete and document a set number of hours of a specified strategy per day. Staff must be present during meetings. Up to 25 hours per week.
