Nature of Work
Under the direction of the Communications and Community Relations Director, this position is responsible for marketing and promoting County services, initiatives, and programs to the community while coordinating strategies that foster strong community relationships and engagement with Coconino County's many populations. The position represents County Management and the Board of Supervisors. Duties include event coordination, community engagement initiatives, agency partner coordination, contract and agreement management, committee/council administration and special projects.

Develops and executes strategic community engagement efforts to increase the understanding and awareness of County programs, initiatives, and services
Designs and implements strategies that reflect County branding and organizational goals.
Leads and manages volunteer cultural Councils.
Implements digital engagement strategies, in coordination with the Digital Communications Specialist, including leveraging social media platforms and web tools to expand public access and participation.
Cultivates and maintains partnerships with outside agencies, community groups, and volunteers to support County initiatives and events.
Coordinates County representation at community events.
Plans, organizes, and executes special events and community engagement activities.
Plans, arranges, displays, and exhibits materials at events to inform and engage the public.
Communicates organizational goals and initiatives to the public, community groups, partner organizations, and governmental entities.
Oversees budget for community relations and special events activities.
Manages procurement and inventory of County-branded promotional materials
Oversees contracts, agreements, and vendor coordination related to events and projects.
Provides general information in response to inquiries.
Research emerging technology and tools to enhance community engagement and communication practices.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Essential functions of the position include but are not limited to: standing; working with and around others; lifting and carrying at least 20 lbs.; working with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist-elbow/shoulder) for computer work and typing; vision acuity for computer work; hearing and speech for ordinary conversations; finger dexterity for typing.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field and 3 years of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, sponsorship/grant solicitation, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Must have ability to work outside of normal business hours, when necessary, for meetings, training, or emergencies/on-call assignments.

This individual brings strong experience in community relations, public engagement and special events along with the ability to build trusted relationships with residents, community leaders, businesses, nonprofits, elected officials and other partners.
This position is exempt from overtime.
Note: Individuals in exempt classifications as part-time employees may be classified as non-exempt per FLSA law regarding minimum weekly salary requirements.
