DEFINITION AND DUTIES:Under general supervision of the Youth and Family Services Manager, complete intake assessment and provide support for successful implementation of Social Services initiatives which may include; General Assistance, Empowerment, Focus on Youth, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Programs among others. Process applications for early childhood programs such as child care scholarships. Assist with outreach efforts to promote various Social Services programs.
Knowledge of: Basic office practices and procedures including record keeping and filing systems Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office software; including Excel Basic mathematical computation Techniques of interviewing, including accurately collecting, evaluating, verifying and recording information Community organizations and services available to meet the needs of low-income adults and children English language to include grammar, spelling, sentence structure, vocabulary and proofreading skills

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:High school graduate or equivalent and two (2) year experience providing customer service in the human services related field. Previous experience working with low-income individuals and diverse populations preferred.

Interpret and explain various programs to applicants, clients and the public Assist with scheduling of appointments for various programs Interview applicants in the office, on the telephone, via video conferencing, and at other locations as needed, and assist with completion of applications Collect and interpret applicant documentation for program aptness and application completeness Prepare and maintain appropriate documentation Provide individuals and families with information, referrals and aid in accessing supportive services Process weekly claims Collect, input and track financial and program data in spreadsheets and database and develop reports, as needed for in- house programs Collect quarterly reports and other program materials for various grant funded projects Assist with implementation of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) clinics, including ordering supplies, scheduling appointments, coordinating translation services, distributing promotional materials and providing staff support at clinics Assist with implementation of family support programs, including the distribution of infant/toddler car seats and portable baby-safe sleep items Post and distribute agendas and minutes for various committees and boards and ensure compliance with applicable open records and open meetings laws Records and transcribes official minutes of various committees and board meetings Perform general clerical duties such as filing, photocopying and completing internal forms. Attend work-related meetings, trainings, and conferences as required Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with County policies, collective bargaining agreement, procedures, and safety practices Provide front desk coverage in the absence of the Johnson County Social Services Community Program Aid – Front Desk and other co-workers Attend work regularly at the designated place and time
