The City of Oak Forest Economic Development Department is seeking applicants for the position of Community Planner. The Community Planner is a professional planning position that assists in the administration of the City's zoning, subdivision, economic development, and long-range planning programs.
Distinguishing Features of Position
The work involves assisting the Director and Assistant Director with activities related to development review, zoning administration, economic development, and long-range planning. This position is also responsible for compiling reports and providing analyses of proposed community development projects. The position also works directly with consultants and provides direction and review of consultant comments.

Required Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Required Experience and Training
A minimum of one year of full-time experience in a municipal planning department or closely related environment is required. Internship experience in municipal planning may be considered towards required experience. A bachelor's degree in planning, geography, public administration, or a closely related field is required. A master's degree in planning, geography, public administration, or a closely related field is highly desired. AICP certification is preferred. Proficiency in the use of standard office software and technology required.
