WINSLOW TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION COMMUNITY PARENT INVOLVEMENT SPECIALIST /SOCIAL WORKER QUALIFICATIONS: • Valid New Jersey Social Worker Certification or School Counselor Certification • Experience working with young children and families, preferably in a preschool or early childhood setting • Knowledge of family engagement practices and community resources in Southern New Jersey • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations • Required criminal history review background check and proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status • Alternatives to the above qualifications may be substituted as deemed appropriate by the Board of Education REPORTS TO: Director of Curriculum and Instruction SUPERVISES : N/A PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES : 1. Develop and implement activities that encourage active parent/guardian participation in preschool programs. 2. Serve as a liaison between families and school staff to promote positive communication and collaboration, including home visit s. 3. Plan and facilitate workshops, family events, and meetings that support early learning at home. 4. Provide families with information, resources, and referrals to community- based services. 5. Maintain accurate records of family participation, outreach efforts, and engagement activities. 6. Support district initiatives related to preschool expansion, access, and equity. 7. Provide counseling for behavioral issues, help children improve social skills, and manage emot ional regulation. 8. Collaborate with preschool instructional staff and intervention specialists (PIRS) to implement positive behavioral support strategies. 9. Assist in identifying, evaluating, and placing students with special needs, including contribution to IEPs and 504 plans. 10. Conduct workshops on child development, nutrition, and safety. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a ten - month position. Salary, holidays and benefits are to be negotiated per the WTEA collective bargaining agreement . EVALUATION: Performance of job responsibilities will be evaluated in accordance with the Board -approved policy for evaluation of certificated staff.
