Full Time/ 40 Hours/ Rotating Shift / Variable/ Boston MAAdult / Pediatric patientsBilingual Spanish strongly preferredSouthern Jamaica Plain Health Center (SJPHC) is a licensed Community Health Center of Brigham and Women's Hospital and provides multi-disciplinary, comprehensive care including Adult and Pediatric Primary Care, OB/GYN, Cardiology, Neurology, Podiatry, and Behavioral Health. SJPHC has a long-standing commitment to comprehensive team-based care and serving the community.SummaryThe Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts who is responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as set forth in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. The registered nurse demonstrates initiative, knowledge and clinical skills in caring for the patient with complex needs. The Registered Nurse demonstrates the ability to effectively manage patients by assuming full responsibility for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of patient care and is directly responsible to a designated nurse manager, or supervisor.CLINICAL PRACTICEOrganization of Patient CareQualifications
Education:
Graduate of an approved school of nursing with current registration in Massachusetts. For newly licensed nurses a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is required.
Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Massachusetts required.
Experience:
1. Recent ambulatory clinic experience required.
2. Telephone Triage experience required.
3. Six months Pediatric nursing experience preferred.
4. Primary Care nursing experience preferred.
5. Experience with Adult patients preferred.
6. Community Health experienced preferred.
Language Skills:
7. Bilingual – English/Spanish fluency strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Previous experience with medical residents preferred.
The RN must show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients.
Must demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities.
Must be able to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills.
Must demonstrate effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management.
