TEMPORARY / PART-TIME
Community Enhancement Specialist Salary: $31.19 - $39.81 per hour
Intern Salary: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
This position is temporary / part-time and is limited to a maximum of 130 hours per month AND 960 hours per fiscal year. Typical work schedule will be three 8-hour shifts per week, excluding weekends and evenings.
THE POSITION
To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the removal of blight from City property. Positions allocated to this class are expected to perform skilled and complex maintenance including litter, weed, and debris removal duties and to work with third party contractors.
The purpose of this recruitment is to hire a temporary/part-time position. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications for the Community Enhancement Specialist position may be considered for employment as an Intern. Work hours vary by assignment and may be required to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Position typically works 25-30 hours per week.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Ideal Candidate for the Community Enhancement Specialist position is a self-motivated, dependable, and safety focused individual who takes pride in maintaining and improving the appearance of the community. The candidate should be comfortable performing physically demanding outdoor work in a variety of weather and environmental conditions, including litter and debris removal, graffiti abatement, encampment cleanups, biohazard removal, pressure washing, and minor landscaping.
The Ideal Candidate should demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while effectively prioritizing assignments with minimal supervision. The Ideal Candidate will communicate professionally with residents, property and business owners, City staff, contractors, and community partners, while consistently demonstrating patience, professionalism, ethical behavior, and a customer service mindset. Two (2) years of experience operating vehicles, power tools, pressure washing equipment, and heavy mechanical equipment is highly desirable.
Most importantly, the successful candidate will be someone who understands that this position is about more than cleanup; it is about taking ownership of the community, working collaboratively with others, and contributing to a clean, safe, and welcoming Woodland.

Provide general information to the public, other City departments, and vendors pertaining to area of assignment. Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment.
The work environment is located primarily outdoors and consists of completing tasks involving litter, weed, debris and graffiti removal, painting and biohazard abatement. Additional tasks include cleaning of walkways, street gutters, alleyways, and landscape areas. Conditions range from working outside in all types of weather conditions. Some work will involve hazardous and unsanitary conditions. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without regular direct supervision. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
Meet stand-by program requirements and serve in a stand-by status after regular working hours and respond to emergency call-outs. Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, scheduling of work, and employee evaluations. Requisition of materials and supplies for assigned facilities and projects. Instruct subordinates in proper work techniques, use of equipment and safety practices and requirements. Work cooperatively with others. Drive vehicles and equipment as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
One (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Maintenance Worker I.
Bilingual: Knowledge of a second language is beneficial.
License or Certificates:
Required upon hire, possession of valid Class C California Driver''s License.
Possession of a valid Class B or Class A California Driver''s License is a plus.

BENEFITS
All of these positions are temporary part-time. Temporary employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND no more than 960 hours in a Fiscal Year. The pay cycle is bi-weekly. With the exception of worker''s compensation coverage and sick leave accrual, no other benefits compensations are provided. Employees must contribute 1.45% of salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan in accordance with Federal Law.
